Scroll into any street on the operations map and it becomes the live battlefield, with no loading screen; scroll out and the fight keeps running. Official
One map, no missions
The store description is blunt: "There are no separate missions and no hidden auto-resolve: every soldier lost, zombie killed and building destroyed carries back to the map." Official In practice that means:
- Losses are permanent on the map. A squad wiped out in a street fight is gone from your order of battle.
- Destruction persists. Heavy weapons bring buildings down, and they stay down. Official
- You can leave a fight running and manage another district from the map.
Work in progress: in October 2026 the developer said they are still working to "reduce loading interruptions between the map and the battlefield" and improve close-up detail across such a large area. Dev
The 15 districts: Hold → Crisis → Lost
Los Angeles is divided into 15 districts, each in one of three states. Official
The store frames the whole map around triage: "You cannot save everyone, so decide who to pull out first." Official The individual district names and exactly what triggers each state change have not been published.
What you do on the map
- Order National Guard, LAPD and LA County Sheriff's units to hold, delay or withdraw. Official
- Call in Marines from Camp Pendleton. Official
- Send truck and helicopter convoys carrying supplies, troops or refugees. Official
- Pull out units and survivors cut off behind the lines before the horde reaches them. Official
- Give naval commands, call fighter support and order helicopters, as shown in the ops-map video. Dev
- Call fire support straight from the map. See fire support. Official
Time: pause and up to 4x
The map can be paused or run at up to 4x. Official In the air-support video the developer pauses to plan orders and speeds up "to move the operation along between attacks." Dev
Fog of war and warnings
- "Only hordes within your forces' line of sight are visible on the map." Official
- "You always get a warning before an attack": reroute, retreat or call in fire support. Official
How big is the map?
The tutorial and Chapter 1 cover the wider Los Angeles metro area, framed as a fighting retreat from the Hollywood Hills toward the Port of Los Angeles. The developer drew the boundary short of Anaheim. Official Dev Beyond LA, a world-map sandbox is planned. Dev A Steam thread asking "How big is the game map?" reached the same conclusion from the store text. Players
FAQ
What is the operations map in Ebbtide?
The strategic layer: a continuous map of Los Angeles where you move forces, run convoys and call fire support. Scrolling into any street turns it into the live 3D battlefield with no loading screen, and the fight keeps running when you scroll back out.
How many districts does Ebbtide have?
Los Angeles has 15 districts on the operations map. Each slides from Hold to Crisis to Lost as the horde advances.
Does Ebbtide have auto-resolve?
No. The store page says there are no separate missions and no hidden auto-resolve: every soldier lost, zombie killed and building destroyed carries back to the map.
How fast can the Ebbtide map run?
You can pause, or run the operations map at up to 4x speed.
